When I worked at REASSEMBLE as a UX designer, we had some free time and I decided to encourage the entire team to work on a new company site that also functions as a portfolio for our clients. Since they were using SquareSpace previously and paid monthly for their subscription, I decided to help them build a site from scratch that is performant, search-engine-optimised, truly customisable and most importantly, with unnecessary monthly charges.
The founders worked on cherry-picking the best projects they've worked on to showcase, while the rest of us worked on the UI design. We had some fun taking pictures of us "working on a project" to show our design process. After the UI was ready, I built their site in about 2 weeks using NuxtJS with static site generation. I learnt a few things here and there and wrote some blog articles as well to document them.
